When visiting Byron Bay we had to visit the Eastern most point of Australia. This was on the list of places we wanted to visit when we left. We parked in Palm Valley and walked along the track past Wategos Beach. This is a dirt track and good walking shoes are a must. There are plenty of benches to stop along the track on way to the top. You can head off on a few different tracks, we headed straight for the top.
I have to admit when we got to the bottom of the stairs for the last 50 m, I looked up and said that I was ready to turn back. Jamie said I'd regret it if I didn't go up the last bit to the top. He was right, it was amazing at the top. The view was incredible and we got some great photos at the top. It was incredibly windy when we got to the top, it was a windy day. Just as we were about to leave we saw some whales just off the coast.
Luckily we took some snacks, we sat at the top and enjoying the view before heading back down. The decent was a bit slower (mainly because I kept stopping to take photos).
There is a beach at Palm Valley, it wasn't very nice with the wind so we skipped it in favour of visiting the shops in Byron Bay.
