We couldn't visit Coffs Harbour without visiting the most famous big thing in Australia. I haven't visited the Big Banana since I was a little girl. It has changed so much. We visited in Winter so the water park was closed, so was the ice skating rink (not sure if that was Covid 19 related).
We would've liked to do the theatre and tour but didn't feel comfortable with it being indoors (can't be too careful with Covid 19). We opted for a few rides down the big slide (for Jamie and Little miss, way too high for me) and a walking through the reptile house, cheese shop, lolly shop, opal shop and the cafe. We did also get out photo out the front (very important). They had a stand to put your phone which was very clever.
The reptile house was a separate entry price, $12.50 for adults and under 4s free. We had a good look at all the snakes and the lizards, it's small but definitely worth a look. Snappy was being fed by someone else so we got to see him jump out of the water for some food. We had a lovely chat with Steve, little miss loved his dog. It was definitely worth the money for us.
The cheese shop is amazing, they do workshops but with Covid 19 we just had a look at the shop. They have a huge range of cheeses (don't be too tempted to look at the prices) and being huge cheese lovers that we are we had to buy some. Jamie picked one that had red wine (I can't remember what it was called) but the one I chose was amazing (again can't remember what it was called but if we go back I'll check). When we head back past Coffs Harbour I'm sure we'll grab some more cheese. It was the most expensive cheese I've ever bought but it lasted a while too.
The lolly shop was interesting, little miss's eye were so big it was like all her dreams had come true. She was less interested to watch them making rainbow lollipops and more worried about what she could buy. Little miss ended up settling on a round rainbow lollipop (like Poppy the Troll). We chose a mix of flavours.
The opal shop was lovely to look through, but with all the rocks Little miss wants to pick up and bring home we didn't stay too long. I fear the day that we unpack everything and find all these sneaky rocks she's hidden everywhere.
The cafe and ice creamery was amazing. We sat on the balcony, it was a nice day. Service was quick and the meals were delicious and a good size. We then had ice cream and a chocolate covered frozen banana for dessert (because how could we not?). Little miss ate the chocolate off the banana and then some of her ice cream, as to be expected.
We had a quick look through the gift shop and Little miss picked out a few treasures to spend her pocket money on. It was a lovely day out.
