Fred the talking cockatoo was right at the entrance. Little miss loves to talk to birds, so was excited when this one talked back. There were plenty of free ranging chickens and ducks wandering the gardens. We went through to look at the rainbow lorikeets and parrots. I got a lot of pictures of Jamie and Little miss feeding the lorikeets. Jamie is a bird person, and loved feeding the birds.
We explored the farmyard nursery, having a pat of fluffy baby chicks in the chick nursery. There was rabbit and guinea pig patting, little miss had a lovely time patting them. Little miss wasn't sure about the alpacas, but very curious about the wombat and koala (there were keeper talks for both).
The reptile show was really interesting and the lady talking about the animals was really informative. We did learn that snakes don't have ears, so if we come across one in the wild I can scream as loud as I want and it won't hear me. She did say to stay still and the snake would go on its way.
The kangaroo and emu feeding was amazing. The kangaroos ate right out of your hand and little miss loved feeding them. During the feeding time, a keep handed out sweet potato for the children to feed the kangaroos. Little miss liked helping and would give her pieces of sweet potato to some of the other children. The sweet potato enticed a mother kangaroo with a joey in her pouch, little miss made sure she was well fed.
They had unlimited mini golf, little miss hasn't played before but she seemed to do okay. Some holes she did better than me, other times she would do the funniest things to try and get the ball in the hole.
The play grounds are amazing. There is a tree house play ground with slides and a lookout. As well as a sand pit with a playground. Little miss loved them both.
We had a bit of food left, so before we left we went back to the farmyard nursery to feed the goats. You can go through 2 gates to go in with the goats to pat them and feed them. When we had walked past earlier we watched a lady wrestle with one goat that had escaped to put it back in the pen. Little miss and I had gone through first, so I asked Jamie if he shut the gate. He said yes, then he realised he hadn't latched it. The goats could get out of the unlatched gate. Luckily Jamie was quick enough that only one of the goats got out. We managed to coax the other 2 into the main pen while Jamie got the last goat back. The last of the animal food was shared amongst the goats.
