This week we really took it easy (if you missed Week 9 Recap). It was the long weekend and the caravan park was packed (or as Little miss say chock-a-block-a full), a lot of Queenslanders coming down and taking advantage of the Covid border bubble. We took advantage of a movie day in the camper trailer. Little miss did think it was exciting when I set up the cushions on the ground and we even had some special movie snacks and drinks. We have also geared back a little, trying to have a few more planned rest days rather than rushing around like we have.
One thing we do like is when booking a caravan park is a playground for Little miss. Big 4 Ballina Headlands didn't disappoint, it had a great playground. We did choose our times for visiting with all sites booked out and lots of kids, but we spent many hours playing happily on the equipment.
Little miss finds it boring on days we have to run errands in town. Unfortunately the caravan park doesn't have a shop within walking distance (forgot to check that one), they do have a little shop at reception but we still needed to got to town. We also have the never ending need to do washing. Usually when there is washing to be done Little miss will come and help. She likes to help load the washing into the machine and press the buttons. She also likes to build rocket ships out of pegs and not want to hand them over when I'm hanging the washing out. They say quiet children are suspicious, this time she got into the dirt and was covered (so much for having all the washing done). A quick shower in the outdoor shower and she's a little cleaner than before. I don't know what it is about this dirt but it doesn't wash out, no matter how much I scrub.
Sharpes beach is a lovely swimming, a short stroll along a bike path (short in our standards about 2 km). It was a very easy walk with a small hill, one we made many times. Windy weather makes it not that nice to swim but heaps of sand to play on and build castles. We ended up going a few days in a row, even taking a picnic lunch.
We took the pop up beach shelter, with some much stuff Jamie drove and I walked with Eden, when we got there it was super windy and I could see 1 pop up beach shelter on the beach but no sign of Jamie. He wasn't in the car and I couldn't see him on the sand. After calling him, he was the one in the beach shelter. He complained about it being too windy in the beach shelter and I just laughed saying that I don't put it up when it's that windy. I chucked it in the back of the car and weighed it down so it wouldn't pop up again. It must've looked funny with me wrestling it into the car.
Being so windy, we ended up chasing hats down the beach. I could hardly stop laughing, the faster I ran the faster the hat blew. On the way back to the caravan park I walked, Jamie and Little miss drove. I stopped at a bench overlooking the beach and spotted a whale. Hoping to grab a picture I went further around off the bike path.
Little miss is like most other children, drawn to other children. She loves to play with other children and make new friends. We had to be careful over the school holidays and long weekend (Don't want to risk another Covid 19 scare) but I have to admit it's been nice seeing little miss making some friends after not being able to play with other kids for so long. Little miss did have a bit of a crash on her bike (going over the speed bumps). The great thing about new friends that happily ride their bikes, means that Little miss got back on to keep up.
By the end of the week the weather had warmed up again, our collapsible bath was pulled out for a little water play. We have a little tea set that Little miss loves to play with in the bath, I lost track of how many cups of tea she made for me.
