Week 11 Recap

This week was a little up and down with the weather (if you missed Week 10 Recap). We started the week with Little miss having to say goodbye to one of her little friends.  It was sad, but always comes with travelling.  The caravan park had the sprinklers on to water the grass, completely irresistible to kids.  We waited until Little miss's friend had left before she had a good play.

Heading into town to do a bit of shopping and the CAR INCIDENT threw a spanner in the works.  After it was fixed we carried on but now we're a bit more careful (hopefully we only have to learn this lesson once). We had lots of postcard to send (Little miss loves to post letters and get mail), a very important job to do.

We picked a good day to go to KILLEN FALLS.  It was recommended to us by another travelling family.  We thought we'd picked a good day to go, but it was super busy and lots of people walking the track.  Also I didn't do much research into what the track was like, how far we had to walk etc. Next time I'll make sure to be a bit more informed and wear more appropriate footwear (seems to be a common theme for me, I love my thongs but not always the best footwear).

We had a few days that were a bit windy. I've never realised that palm trees make a lot of noise when it's windy.  The noise doesn't bother Jamie at all, but it drives me insane.  We had a few nights sleeping in the car, so much quieter.  We also had a day where the rain came through very quickly.  We were playing on the playground and went inside when it looked a little ominous. Sure enough within 5 minutes it bucketed down.  The temperature went from 28 degrees to 21 degrees in half an hour.. There was even a beautiful rainbow once the rain stopped.

We finished off the week with dolphin and whale watching from the headlands at SHARPES BEACH.  I told little miss I'd pay her a coin if we saw dolphins and another one if we saw whales.  Lucky I didn't say for each dolphin or whale we saw, there were heaps of both. I could watch the dolphins and whales for ages. THE GREAT ESCAPE PART 2 also happened, I don't know what it is with Little miss but she's one slippery kid.

Lessons we learned:

  • Sprinklers are irresistible
  • Car issues aren't fun
  • Mail is fun, both posting and receiving
  • Waterfalls are the best
  • Do lots of research on the places you visit
  • Wear appropriate footwear
  • Piggy back rides are fun except up steep steps
  • Palm trees are really noisy in the wind
  • I love dolphins
  • I love whales
  • We have a slippery kid
  • Everything needs to be locked up
  • We need to sleep with one eye open
