Week 6 Recap

We had a busy we this week, but who doesn't love a busy week (if you missed our Week 5 Recap).  I love the reflections park location, it's within walking distance to a small set of shops again. They have a beautiful bakery and a really cute nik nak shop as well as a couple of op shops.  It also has an ice cream shop (very important find).

We were really lucky with the site that we got, it was an ensuite site but out the back was a nice grassy strip. Little miss spent a lot of time playing out the back. We'd put a towel down and she would play with her blocks or we pulled out the painting. It really was the perfect location. We even had a kookaburra land in the tree, amazing.

After dinner Little miss likes to go for a walk around the park, the bats flying over head are an amazing site. We found out from the lady in the visitor centre that they sleep in the trees by the RIVER.  The lady at the visitor centre was really knowledgeable and gave us some really good ideas on things to do and map (definitely go and talk to the visitor centres).

We had more windy and rainy weather, to help me get a little sleep I camped in the car with little miss.  She thought it was fun for sleep in the car, I thought it was less fun and more of a strategy for getting more sleep overnight (I wish I'd thought of it sooner). When we walked past the bats during the windy weather it was surprising how noisy they were, they didn't seem too happy in the wind.  But saying that on a day it wasn't windy they seemed to fight a lot and make weird noises.

We did take the trip into Ballina for shopping, on one of our trips in we stopped at the BIG PRAWN.  We got a photo for our big things collection, Jamie made sure his truck was in the photo (priorities).

As with most people when you get into the swing of living on the road with new equipment you test things out and change things to see what works best for you.  We decided to swap the end doors in the annex to see if that worked better for us. We should've realised that they weren't interchangeable when the velcro didn't completely stick. A little bit of rain and a few puddles in the corners of the annex inspired me with pull them down and change them.  I was super impressed that I managed to do it mostly by myself and Jamie was surprised at how quickly I did it.  In all honesty, I was just getting it over an done with before it started raining again and before the wind picked up again.

We drove up to RAZORBACK LOOKOUT and CHINAMANS BEACH. I did google them and had thought we'd walk them but after driving up there I'm glad we didn't. Both amazing and worth a look.

We walked down the BREAKWALL and saw a bucket load of lizards sunning themselves, Little miss was really curious.  I saw a sea turtle near the river, it was too quick for me to get a picture and little miss didn't see it. We saw lots of fishermen and stopped to talk to them along our walk as well as stopping to pat every dog on our way past (she asks before patting the dogs).

We were watching a fisherman cleaning a fish and he very generously gave little miss the fish.  When he handed it over I dropped it, it was so slippery (it's been a while since I've been fishing).  Jamie had the brilliant idea to put the fish in Little miss's hat. She then had to show everyone her fish on the way back.  We decided that fish and chips for lunch were in order, so little miss and I walked to the fish co-op to get a little more and some chips from the shop. Her hat smelled like fish and she wouldn't wear it (it was a fish bag now) so we went past the op shops to get a new one.  Little miss had her heart set on a pink pepper pig hat, but they didn't have anything like that. The lady was nice and found a brand new pink cap and gave it to little miss.  This became the new favourite hat. The fresh fish and chips were amazing (I highly recommend the fish co-op, amazing fish).

We did taste test the ice cream at the ice cream shop (Muzza's milk bar), finally a shop that has a toddler sized ice cream that little miss can actually eat the lot. I also don't feel so guilty buying one at $2 a cup or cone.

It has been an action packed week
