Here were are at week 7,(if you missed our Week 6 Recap) with plans for more exploring and heaps of fun times (as Little miss would say). This week we visited ILUKA(recommended by Mrs Meddler), we were going to do the rain forest walk but Jamie decided to drive straight to the lookout. Bluff beach was amazing and Little miss was super sweet. She collected shells as she went along the beach and handed them out to everyone we saw as we went. The last lady was lucky enough to get what shells she had left. The fish co-op was for lunch. We sat the the banks of Iluka bay to eat our fish and chips.
We did a fair bit of walking this week, walking down to the BREAKWALL and along the river. It was lovely to see some dolphins (even a baby) swimming in the river. Little miss was super excited. Taste testing some different flavoured ice creams by the RIVER was definitely a highlight for us.
When we visited ILUKA, we didn't want to miss out on visiting YAMBA. We were too late to see the markets (I love markets), so a walk along the breakwall. Amazingly the breakwall was a fair walk, with a great view of the lighthouse. On the way back we visited MACLEAN. I wasn't expecting great things from MACLEAN but was pleasantly surprised.
We did get a few days with some wet weather. We woke up to a sizeable puddle on the roof of the annex. I had rolled the ensuite extension up because it annoyed me when it flapped in the wind. When it rained of course the water pooled there. I very carefully (with the broom) got rid of the puddle, Jamie climbed up and undid the rolled up flap. The corners seem to collect puddles, nothing serious but enough to make sure we mop them up. We do have a few little dribbles along where the annex attaches (we must check next time we pack down), nothing exciting. Over all pretty happy with how water proof the annex is. The camper trailer had no leaks at all. We spent a few days in the camp kitchen to give us room to move with the wet weather.
Every Friday they have the local farmers markets at the surf club. They had an amazing collection of local produce. Little miss loved the olives (the little weirdo) and sweet biscuits. Jamie loved the olive tapenade and we all loved the wood fire olive bread. Not a huge set of markets but plenty of variety.
While out for an evening walk, we had stopped to chat with our neighbours before the PLOVER INCIDENT occurred. Evening walking have to pause for a little while. We also had little miss make her GREAT ESCAPE. Nothing is safe!
