When we turned onto the road we needed to drive to get to the lighthouse there was a station and guards. It also had a sign saying it was a gravel road. Once it was our turn we spoke with the guard who took down our details and gave us a map of the area and information of the area. He told us how to get to the lighthouse. He also recommended going to HONEYMOON BAY and how to get there.
The funniest part was the gravel road was smoother than the highway. Jamie said it was the smoothest gravel road he'd ever driven on. It was really nice. The Beecroft Weapons range is located on the Beecroft Peninsula, and the area can be close if they are doing military exercises. There can also be some hazards but it's all explained in the paperwork given to us at the gate. It also gave some history on the area including the lighthouse.
We drove to the end to a car park and hopped out and walked the 150m to the lighthouse. The lighthouse is contained in a fenced area with the cottages that previously housed the lighthouse keeper and his family. They have lots of signs to say to stay inside the fence and not to climb over to take photos. Apparently that doesn't apply to everyone, and I had to wait for a while to be able to take photos of the view with a lady in them.
We did see some people abseiling off the cliffs, but this is for experienced people only. While I took some photos Little miss and Jamie played rock hopping and pretended the grass was lava.
There were many walking tracks, well marked out with difficulty levels included so you could spend a fair amount of time exploring the area. We were happy seeing the lighthouse and then heading back to see HONEYMOON BAY. The roads are very well sign posted so it was easy to find our way along.
