To See NSW - Billabong Zoo

This is a really incredible zoo. We have been to a few different zoos and wildlife parks, and this offered a great range of interactive animal experiences. For little miss's birthday her Aunty gave her some money for a koala experience.  We got to go into the koala exhibit to pat the koalas and feed one of them a supplement.  I think I was more excited than Little miss, but I think she thought that everyone got to have a go. They had some koalas that we weren't allowed to pat, mainly because they got a bit grabby or could scratch. The ones we could pat, if they didn't like being patted they just climbed up. It was amazing because we got to pat some joey's as well.

The koala that we fed the supplement was blind and the supplement was to help keep him healthy.  After the koala experience we went and fed some kangaroos and wallabies.  Most of them had joeys in their pouches, I did have to stop little miss from trying to feed the joeys. 

We walked through the zoo and little miss was really excited about spending some birthday money in the shop. When she realised that she wasn't going to miss out of spending her money she was able to slow down and enjoy the zoo.  It was really well laid out and there were plenty of animals to see and learn about. 

It took us about 3 hours to see everything and we even had time for little miss to have a play on the playground. As with most zoos and Covid 19 there were no keeper talks so we had to make do with just reading the information on the animals. We did play spot the animal and Little miss loved trying to be the first one to spot the animal in its enclosure. We also talked about what countries the animals are from, sometimes she thinks there will be lions or wolves just wandering around when we are more likely to see dingoes or crocodiles.

• Little miss thought koalas felt like cotton wool but fur
• Joeys are cute
• Feeding the koala was an interesting experience

• So many of the wallaby's and kangaroos had joeys
• We weren't sure what they were at first, with a foot poking out
• Little miss will try to feed joeys
• Playing spot the animal is a great game to play with kids
• Little miss was excited about spending some birthday money in the gift shop
