They had information on the koalas in the hospital and why some of them couldn't return to the wild. They did also have information about koalas and the construction of the hospital. I found it particularly interesting reading about how koalas react in bush fires and it explained why many of the koalas got burned in the bush fires here in Australia last year.
In low intensity fires the fire burns the scrub and base of the tree, leaving the canopy untouched with the koalas nestled safely at the top. In high intensity bush fires (like last years bush fires) it burns the canopy and unfortunately the koalas. They did have lots of koalas from the bush fires last year come to them to be looked after. It was amazing to see how much they do for such an amazing animal and they are run completely on donations.
They had a viewing window which we could watch as they looked after a koala, I'm not sure what was wrong with it but they were washing it's bottom. When they got the blow dryer out and dried it's fur Little miss thought it was hilarious. They had a donation box and little miss gave some of her pocket money, which was really sweet. She was really worried about helping the koalas.
We did also get some treasures from the shop, they had some amazing things you could buy. Little miss loved her rainbow koala pen, so much so that she picked one out for her little friends.
