Only a few more days before before we head off again (if you missed Week 19 recap). We had an early Christmas with family in Sydney before leaving. Little miss had a great time giving out presents to everyone and of course opening presents.
I had sent my camera off to be repaired. I kept getting an error when I was taking photos. I checked it before taking it in the the shop. Of course when I got there it was taking photos with no error. I had to pick my camera up this week otherwise I wouldn't have it for the next leg of our trip. Lucky I wasn't going crazy. The lens ended up being broken. I had been talking about wanting to buy a new lens but couldn't justify the price. However with a broken lens I had to make the decision if I wanted the same kind of lens or a different one. I ended up upgrading the lens to one that zooms in more.
We packed up the last of our things into the camper trailer, we surprisingly have so much more room, and set off to Huskisson. We couldn't get into White Sands as recommended to us by Mrs Meddler and Mr Butinski. Instead we ended up next door at Holiday Haven Huskisson Beach. We booked a double slab and we ended up the furtherest possible site from the amenities. It ended up being a fantastic site and if we were booking again, I'd book the same site. It was a bit of a squeeze to get around the corner and there was a car parked on our site that we had to get moved. There were 3 double concrete slab sites in amongst the cabins. The cabins actually protected us from the wind. We were also right next to the play ground. Little miss played on the play ground so much while we were there. The only down side was not being able to check in until 2pm which made the day a bit later than normal.
With the amenity block being so far away I ended up taking little miss to the showers in the wagon. It made life so much easier and meant I didn't have to worry about her running on the road.
I didn't get much of a chance to get sunrise photos while at Huskisson, the rain kept me in bed, not wanting to risk any damage to my new lens. The first few mornings while we were there I did get up and try, but ended up back in bed not long after.
We settled into Huskisson quickly, the shops in Vincentia had everything we needed, Little miss was excited to push the trolley not wanting any help. We did intervene before she ran into anyone, all ankles were safe. We also grabbed some fresh fish from the fish shop in Huskisson. It was delicious.
We went for a walk down to HUSKISSON BEACH to explore and see what it was like. I loved the rock shelf even if it was a bit tricky trying to be careful walking with Little miss and not bumping my camera. On the way back Jamie and his long legs just wandered away so I ended up giving Little miss a piggy back ride to get her back towards the middle. It must've looked funny from Jamie's perspective to see me juggling both. He ended up taking Little miss so I only had my own clumsy self to worry about.
After dinner we went for a walk and the temperature has definitely dropped. Little miss had a wagon ride, I set her up with a pillow and her sleeping bag so she was snug as a bug while riding. Jamie rode his bike with us. It was easy exploring the surrounding areas with the great bike paths around. We also came across other kids in wagons having a ride.
We wandering into town and explored some of the shops Huskisson has to offer. It's amazing to see the variety in such a small town. After an ice cream we wandered down to the memorial and sea pools. I didn't realise Jervis Bay had so much history. On the way back we wandered along SHARK NET BEACH and admired the shells. We did also see the strangest fish washed up on the rocks I've ever seen. Of course Little miss wanted to take it home and eat it, thinking it was like all the other fish we've had over the past few months.
After seeing a lighthouse across from Huskisson Beach. A quick google and I found it POINT PERPENDICULAR LIGHTHOUSE. It took a little convincing for Jamie to agree to go out to see it, but I'm glad we did. It was really interesting. We also saw HONEYMOON BAY and BINDIJINE BEACH as well. We then had lunch in Carrarong by the beach. It was a really nice day and the water was amazingly coloured.
