To See In NSW - Boyd's Tower

We had looked across ASLINGS BEACH for the whole time we'd been in Eden and looked at this tower. To say we were excited to visit was an understatement. After our trip to GREEN CAPE LIGHTHOUSE we took the quick trip to the tower. Another dirt road, but this one was a little over 1 km so not as bad as the road to the lighthouse. As we pulled in to the car park we ended up with the TIRE INCIDENT. While that was being sorted out the kids and my sister and I headed down to the tower.

This was a really interesting tower originally built to be a lighthouse, but the Government didn't give permission for it to become one and has only been lit 3 times with special permission. For me the most amazing part was how they managed to get the sandstone all the way out there to build the tower. It was a great opportunity for the kids to have a think about how they would move all that sandstone out there with no modern day conveniences.

The damage from the bush fires is still really obvious with the lookout still damaged and taped off.  Signs in the taped off area still melted from the intense heat.

This is a must see historical site if you're visiting Eden.
