Travel Tip - Fridge Cord Modification

One of the most annoying things with a slide drawer for the fridge is the cord.  I can't even tell you how many times it had got caught or tangled.  It was driving me insane.  It would be fine for a week or so after Jamie fixed it (I don't know what he did but it always worked) but soon enough the cord would get caught.  We did have the cord get caught and unplug once luckily we noticed and plugged it back in. We started to worry about the cord getting damaged so we needed to so something different.

Travel Tip: A chain drive can stop the cord getting damaged

Jamie and his friend worked up the chain drive fix.  They drilled a hole in a metal plate and fixed it to the drawer. One end of the chain drive was attached to the metal plate and the other to the inside of the fridge nook.  The cord was fed through the chain drive. They knocked it up fairly quickly.

I'm so happy with how it turned out and now no more issues with the cord getting caught as we open or close the fridge slide.

Jamie did also attach the bar over the quick release buttons to make opening the fridge slide with one hand a breeze. It's funny how much difference these little modifications have made to using the fridge slide with ease.
