This week started with a day trip to BERMAGUI for a late Wedding anniversary treat (if you missed Week 25 recap). We had wanted to have a trip up to Bermagui, but had held off as over the Christmas period there was a little hiccup with some people with Covid 19 visiting. So we pushed our day trip back a bit until we were happy to visit. We ended up pick the perfect day to visit. The worst part of the day, was little miss napping on the way home. Little miss is on a strict no napping in the day time (and has for a long time) otherwise she’s a party animal at bed time. There was nothing we could do to keep her awake, so we just had to go with it.
We did stop past Bega on the way back; we’ve learnt that Bega is where the bigger shops are. We like to shop local as much as possible but sometimes it’s just not possible. While we were there, little miss picked out a toffee apple for dessert. She pretends her pencils are toffee apples after seeing toffee apples on a cartoon (I’m not saying the blue dog) so thought why not she can have it for dessert and then brush her teeth really well. She did what all kids do with toffee apples. She ate the toffee and 2 bites of apple before declaring that she was full.
We had more windy days; I can’t believe how windy the weather has been recently. This day wasn’t as bad as it has been but still pretty windy. I took myself for a walk around the town, little miss and Jamie stayed behind in the camper trailer. I did have ambitions of walking further than I did, but anyone who has visited Eden will know that it’s really steep in places so I abandoned that idea when I realised the coming back would be much harder.
With changes to the borders, I was super excited to be able to organise a day trip. Woohoo we finally get to cross a border after 6 months travelling. Jamie was less excited than I was, but that’s okay. We organised our border passes, the lady at the reception of the caravan park was nice enough to print them out for us and the next day we were on our way to VICTORIA. The day trip was short but sweet. I’m so grateful that we got the chance to go and visit such a beautiful town.
The next day we had ideas to head to the beach and the wind picked up again, so settled on doing lots of chalk drawings on the slab next door and all around the edge of our slab. We even had an afternoon tea picnic out on the grass; it’s been nice just being together. It was nice of the wind to die down before bed this time, it’s been so windy.
We ended up with a really hot day. So hot we couldn’t even stay in the annex or camper trailer, instead we moved out to under the door flap which caught a bit of breeze. More chalk drawings, it makes it exciting because we don’t always have somewhere to draw. Somehow little miss ended up filthy, and had 2 changes of clothes. I think if they’re filthy then we’re doing it right so don’t mind a little extra washing. The wind picked up again and we went to see the beach. We could hear the waves crashing loudly, as soon as we got to the top of the hill we were almost blown away. The wind was so strong it took your breath away. Safe to say we didn’t stay there long before heading back for an all important icy pole to cool down.
The wind and the shade of the tree at the front of our site helped cool everything down and we could venture back inside again. The long weekend is coming up so the park is filling up again and little miss is excited because her cousins are coming to stay for a few days so it’s almost impossible to get her to go to sleep. It’s also nice to see more Victorians returning to NSW. I washed the chalk drawings off; we had so many drawings and were running out of space. I take photos of all the drawings before washing them off.
Now the countdown was on until the cousins arrived, so to fill in time little miss and I walked into town to grab a few groceries that we needed and grab an ice cream. The cousins arrived after lunch and little miss was so excited that they were here. All the kids jumped on their bikes and went for a ride. Its funny how quickly little miss was riding, trying to keep up with the big kids. They headed to the playground, little miss had a ball playing with her cousins.
After they we all set up we headed to the beach. The kids and dads had a great time swimming in the waves while little miss built sand castles on the beach and I caught up with my sister. After their swim the boys played footy on the beach and little miss had a little paddle with her uncle to rinse the sand off. Back for dinner and we cooked up a big batch of NACHOS which was polished off pretty quickly.
The caravan park put on a movie for the kids, it started pretty late for little miss but she didn’t want to miss out. I loaded her into the wagon with a pillow and sleeping bag and we sat down to watch the movie. The movie was coco. Little miss spent most of the movie asking questions and then missing bits. After about an hour it was well and truly past little miss’s bedtime so we packed up and headed back to the camper trailer. One of her cousins came for a sleepover, little miss was so excited she wouldn’t sleep. Her cousin on the other hand fell straight to sleep with no issues.
Last day of the week and we had been saving a few exciting things to see at Eden for when the cousins came to stay. It was a reasonably warm day so we decided to head to GREEN CAPE LIGHTHOUSE first, if the winds picked up in the afternoon it would be miserable. 16km in is DISASTER BAYLOOKOUT, before a short drive to the lighthouse.
We then headed back along the very long gravel road and headed to BOYDS TOWER. The road was so bumpy that little miss nodded off on the way out. Just as we were parking there was the TYRE INCIDENT. We had a less eventful trip to BOYDSTOWN where we came across the BEN BOYD MUSEUM. After a full day sightseeing together we had an early dinner and bed for little miss.
