Week 28 Recap

Our last morning at Narooma (if you missed Week 27 recap) and like a crazy person I got up at 5am to go to AUSTRALIA ROCK to get a sunrise photo. I should have looked when the sun was rising, because I could’ve slept for a lot longer than I did. I did have to hang around for a little while until there was a little more light, and I used the light of my torch for some of the way. I made it with no issues and headed back in time for breakfast and the last of the packing up to set off to our next destination.

The start to the new week and we’re back visiting family again. Little miss has been really excited and counting down the days to go back and visit. Little miss was super excited to find a kookaburra tail feather in the back garden. Jamie has some feathers in his hat, and little miss was proud to give him another feather for his collection.

Mrs Meddler made an early birthday cake for Jamie and little miss helped to decorate it. We headed over to the neighbours swimming pool and went for a swim. Little miss loved having a swimming ring, she thought it was hilarious to call them donuts. Back for early birthday cake for afternoon tea, chocolate cake with cherries and whipped cream, it was absolutely delicious.

Little miss had a rough night and was up with growing pains half the night. It was of course in the middle of the night when it was pouring with rain and the Panadol was on the inside of the camper trailer. First job when we open it up again is to move the Panadol to a more accessible spot.

Little miss was exhausted so we had a quiet day for her, with a short walk before dinner. I did grab another bottle of Panadol from the chemist, in the hope that if she has growing pains again at least we have something to give to her. Of course when you have the Panadol you don’t need it, it’s always the way.

After I had a rough time with the weather down south (Jamie and Little miss have been fine), we did talk to Mrs Meddler and Mr Butinski about upgrading. Originally I was thinking a motorhome, but Jamie wasn’t happy with the idea. Then idea of getting a caravan was born. I don’t want a caravan. I do want to travel. Little miss cried when I asked her if she would miss seeing all the lighthouses if we couldn’t go. It looks like were on the hunt for a caravan when we get back to Nanna’s house. I did have a little look at some friends caravan, I liked the size and layout so we have something to start with.

Next stop is Lake Tabourie for a quick trip with the second cousins. We booked in at the Holiday Haven Lake Tabourie, for an extra $5 a night we booked an ensuite site. They were really nice and worth the money. Very modern, clean and roomy. We took our time setting up, this is the last time we set it up for us to stay in. We stopped to feed the birds, little miss loves the rainbow lorikeets and so does Jamie.

With our plan to head back to Nanna’s in a few days time we wanted to run the fridge down. There was no point taking stuff back, especially when we are looking to upgrade to a caravan. We did a quick trip to Ulladulla to grab a few bits and pieces to help use up what was left.

The best part about the caravan park was there was so much to do without having to leave the park. 2 playgrounds and jumping pillows, swimming pool, splash pad and a BMX bike track, it really is a haven for families. There is also beach entry, right from the park. It made our stay so memorable.

With the beach so close I was up early to go for a sunrise photo shoot. Crampton Island looked magnificent at sunrise on WAIRO BEACH. We did some washing and played on the conveniently located playground and jumping pillow while we waited for it to finish. The second cousins had arrived by the afternoon so we all headed for the swimming pool and splash pad. The splash pad was a little cool, but the swimming pool was perfect. It was heated, only enough to take the chill off. The wind was a bit cool, so little miss and I hopped out after we started getting cold and the swimming pool started getting busier.

They had some rocks in the garden, of course little miss noticed. Some had been painted. Little miss couldn’t possibly miss out so she chose a rock that she wanted to paint. It was a difficult choosing only one. After she had finished painting her rock, she wanted to paint another one. We decided to leave the rocks for other people to have a turn. We also had time for a quick ride on her bike. I love when the caravan parks are nice and flat and easy for little miss to ride her bike along.

It was Jamie’s turn to put little miss to bed, so I took myself for a little walk. I thought it was a good opportunity to wander the caravan and see what caravans different people have. As usual I got a little distracted on my walk and ended up with a phone call from Jamie for me to come back. He went fishing with his cousin while I had a quiet night.

After a bit of a leak in the annex in Narooma and the only way to know if we fixed it is to have some rain. Lucky for me, I fixed the leak. We had an easy morning waiting for the rain to clear. Jamie went fishing, you get wet anyway. Once the rain eased we headed for the beach. Little miss saw a little girl flying a kite, her first reaction was to make friends with her so she could have a turn. That’s exactly what happened. The girls had a fantastic time taking turns flying the kite and digging in the sand together. Little miss had her bright pink life vest on so when Jamie came back from Crampton Island when they finished fishing she was easy to spot on the beach.

By the time we walked off the beach little miss was drenched. The best part about having an ensuite is we can have nice hot showers after a trip to the beach. By the time we were in warm dry clothes the sun came out. Some chalk drawings with the seconds cousins followed by a play at the jumping pillow and a swim in the pool. Couldn’t ask for a better time.

The second cousins packed up and headed off with a quick play before they headed off. We had started packing up before heading to the pool to cool down. Jamie didn’t feel like a swim, so little miss and I enjoyed our last swim of our stay. Then we had the big job of cleaning out the camper trailer, as we head back to Sydney with plans to sell the camper trailer the best way to make it easier in Sydney is to get rid of anything we don’t need. Jamie did help pack up again, although he did spend a large amount of time herding wild ducks in an attempt to feed them.
