Week 31 Recap

We started off our week with a massive clean-up (if you missed Week 30 recap). We have a heap of stuff being stored at Nonno’s house, and any opportunity to clear things out while we’re back we took advantage of. We ordered a skip and when we got there we rolled up our sleeves and got to it. Jamie had used his chainsaw to chop down an old diseased fruit tree for Nonno, and there was a bit of rubbish that we added to the skip. Of course we chose the hot day to do it, but we also just wanted to get it done and done quickly. I was glad to have our beach wagon on a day like today, it really came in handy moving the rubbish up to the skip. By lunchtime we had filled the skip to the brim and it was time to plant a few of our fruit trees in Nonno’s newly prepared garden. It was lucky that we did, if we’d left the fruit trees much longer they would’ve been root bound.

Nonno has done such a fantastic job of looking after my plants while we’ve been travelling, it felt nice to be able to do something for him. Digging the holes to plant the fruit trees were hard work, so much so that I ended up putting down the tools to go for lunch. All that hard work had made us ravenous. After a quick bite to eat I went for a swim in Nonno’s pool while Jamie kept digging the holes. Poppy paTROLL was perfect for getting a bit of dirt and mulch for the new garden bed. Once the plants were planted Nonno wanted a few more tree branches trimmed off his other tree, we squeezed them into the top of the skip before calling it a day.

We had organised for Little miss to have a play with her second cousin again. They got along so well in Lake Tabourie and when they visited Nanna’s house. Little miss was super excited to go and visit. There was the most amazing playground by the train station. It was really well set up and the kids had a great time running around playing together. We had fairy cakes for morning tea and the most delicious bread rolls for lunch. It was such a great day. By the time we got back it was dinner time.

We made the trip to Coffs Harbour, for little miss to start preschool. Our originally plan was to already be in Coffs Harbour but with life, you have to be flexible. While little miss was at PRESCHOOL I got to have a bit of Mummy time. After a little shopping I headed back to BONVILLE HEADLANDS, it was nice standing at the top looking down at the water. It’s funny how different it felt 6 months later. The water was very brown, probably from all the rain that they’ve had. There were even some dolphins swimming of the headland.

We headed back to Sydney the next day, leaving a little early from preschool to make the drive back not too late. About half an hour out from Nanna’s house little miss said she wanted to have a little nap but she ended up chatting until we made back to Nanna’s. She fell asleep so quickly that night. It was a long drive back and I was just as tired as she was. I’m not used to all this driving business, the last six months I’ve enjoyed being chauffeured around by Jamie.

We went to visit Nonno, and little miss had a lovely time creating craft projects with the new craft box I put together for her. She was so quiet playing for ages with her craft box and creating so many beautiful things. After we packed away the craft box she went to play with the toy box in the lounge room while we sorted out what we wanted to pack into the new caravan. After realising that she was quiet and a quiet kid is a dangerous kid. When I went looking for her I found her curled up on the lounge under a quilt fast asleep.

After heading back to nanna’s house, we quickly realised little miss was under the weather and needed a trip to the ED. One problem I have with the pandemic, is that if you have a temperature the doctors surgeries won’t allow you into the surgery. So we have no choice but to head to the ED for treatment and another Covid 19 test. The lucky part is that the test results came back 8 and a half hours later, so we didn’t have to self isolate for long, we spent most of the time sleeping.

A few doses of antibiotics later and she’s back to her usual self. Now that she was feeling better it gave me the opportunity to have some much needed Mummy time and bond with my sister in law. What better way than to go plant shopping. The funny part about going plant shopping and travelling full time is that you can’t buy any plants. But I also didn’t want to buy anything. Looking around the shop was lovely, and it was great spending time with my sister in law but as a plant loving person I was surprised I didn’t feel the urge to buy anything.

The other positive of me having time to myself, means that Jamie and little miss get to spend some quality time together.
