Week 33 Recap

It was a long drive back from Canberra last night, and a long drive to Coffs Harbour (if you missed Week 32 recap). When we bought our caravan we organised to be able to pick it up from Coffs Harbour to save us a really long drive with the caravan. Jamie drove up in his car and little miss and I drove up in Poppy paTROLL. We stopped for a quick lunch before we kept going. I was such a long day. We met at the caravan park and took Poppy paTROLL to the dealership to pick up our new caravan.

We do the final few things to do the handover and before we know we're hitched up and heading back to the caravan park. Jamie chose to go along the highway and straight along the road to the caravan park, meaning less fussing about on the local roads. I have to admit it did feel a bit more wobbly than we were used to, but Poppy paTROLL towed it like a dream. I did have to tell Jamie to slow down, he didn't even realise that he was going a little fast.

Jamie did a great job backing the caravan onto our site and we started to unpack. Most people who turn up to the caravan park have already done the hard stuff, like putting all their stuff in and unwrapping the bed and fridge. It was either move straight in or stuff about longer in Sydney and we were busting to get our space back. Luckily Nanna sent us up with some soup already made, that way we didn't have to worry about cooking dinner. Which worked out well, mainly because I hadn't unpacked the bowls or cutlery and in fact had no idea where they were. We ended up using measuring spoons instead, little miss thought it was hilarious.

Little miss loves her new room. She spent a long time just sitting on her bed, I even got a ''get out of my room" from her . She did also put the chocolate into the fridge, priorities right? Our first night in the caravan, we were all so excited. The caravan was an absolute mess but I was so happy to have a proper roof over our heads, finally.

We spent the next few days unpacking and sorting everything out. Absolutely loving the air con, and in true Coffs Harbour fashion the clouds rolled over the hills and a severe thunderstorm was forecast. It didn't eventuate, but we did end up with a pretty double rainbow.

While unpacking inside, little miss was getting a little stir crazy. So we unleashed her on the concrete outside to do a bit of drawing while we sorted a few more things. I did giggle when she tipped out the entire bucket of chalk on to the concrete only to have a bush turkey come and steal a piece. Nothing is funnier than watching a 4 year old chasing a bush turkey yelling out 'hey, give me back my chalk'. Its safe to say the bush turkey didn't give the chalk back but I did laugh a lot. The bush turkey only stole one piece of chalk, and didn't steal any more. We did pull the water pistols out so she could keep them away.

We went and had a play at the playground. The hard part about trying to organise and sort everything is that it's boring if you're a kid. The playground helped. We also pulled out the junior uno and played quite a few games. Little miss picked up the game really quickly and I had to add extra cards and make it harder just to beat her.

With the weather so nice we headed down to BONVILLE CREEK for a play by the water. Little miss buried rocks in the sand and then was a pirate digging up the buried treasure. There was another little girl playing with her mum at the beach and sure enough little miss made friends with her in no time. We watched fish swimming in the shallows. Little miss ran around the beach with a stick pretending it was a harpoon. I love that little miss has remembered all the amazing things we've been learning while on our travels.

While little miss was at preschool I took the opportunity to stick the stickers on the back of the caravan, as well as a sticker above Little miss's bed. The sticker on the back of the caravan took me so long to put on. I had to be so careful to make sure it was put on neatly. I did have to stand on a milk crate to be able to reach. After standing on the milk crate for a while I had to sit down for a rest. The humidity was amazing, and it's something that will take a little getting used to.

I took the time to organise and decorate Little miss's room, it will only stay tidy for about 10 seconds. It was great to be able to sort things out while little miss had fun at preschool. I feel like we've finally made some progress on sorting everything out in the caravan. After preschool we went for a swim at the swimming pool. We only had a quick dip, there was an after school group, so we hopped out when it got too busy. It gave us time to do some Easter craft and play a little uno before dinner.

After discovering the swimming pool (it was closed last time we stayed) we decided to go swimming again. I have a feeling this is going to be a regular occurrence for us. When we got there the pool was closed so we decided to go for a paddle at BONVILLE CREEK. She dug up some of the treasures she had buried the other day and buried some more.

I was super excited to be able to get up and go for a sunrise photo shoot. With a car I feel confident driving, means I can explore further and see different spots. I headed off to BOAMBEE HEADLAND LOOKOUT. I came back to little miss tucked up in my spot in bed, giggling away.

Jamie and his friend fixed a few issues we had around the caravan, and we cooked a BBQ and the kids played at the playground together. The 3 girls get along so well, it makes it so nice when the kids get along. We headed back from the playground when we heard thunder off in the distance and the rain clouds were getting darker. We made it back just in time for the rain to start. We hung out in the camp kitchen with the kids playing uno. By bedtime the rain had well and truly set in. The edges of Little miss's bed was a bit damp and anything against the edge was wet. It's the only part that's canvas now. This is something we will have to McGyver.
