Day 8 Maroochydore
It's been so exciting having the cousins visit. Today we had a girls only shopping trip to Coolum and Maloolaaba. Little miss was super excited to have a special morning tea. I had a thong blow out, lucky aunty came to my rescue and had a spare bobby pin for me to hold together my thong until I could find another pair. I was going to just pick up a cheap pair but I'm glad I didn't. We looked up where to get Aussie Soles Starfish thongs, they are the best thongs and I'm so glad I did. It was cold and rainy today which I wasn't prepared for after the warm weather the day before. The rain was light but cool. Mrs Meddler and Mr Butinski also decided to change my plan. It took a little while to get a new plan sorted and my bookings rearranged.
Day 9 Maroochydore
It was Aunty's birthday. Little miss decided us seeing her wasn't a proper birthday present so she picked out some lollipops to give to her. We had a relaxing morning at the playground. One of the cousins played with little miss the whole time, she loved it. The afternoon we walked down and watched the cousins do the ropes course at Next Level. Little miss was desperate to get up and do it too, but she wasn't old enough. There was a PLAYGROUND with a smaller ropes course and she had a turn on it. We headed back for showers and got dressed into our nice clothes. The fashion family (what little miss calls us when dressed up) was ready for dinner. We had dinner at the RED SEA. It was delicious. Little miss ate the most calamari and even had ice cream for dessert.
Day 10 Maroochydore
There were more plans changed, the weather is expected to get worse over the next 2 days. I don't really want to pack up or set up a tent in the wet. The plan to drive to Yeppoon was born. After a few more tweaks to my travel plans we headed off to AUSTRALIA ZOO for the day with Grandma and the cousins. When we got back I packs, cleaned and sorted as much as I could so that we could get up and leave early the next day. We were due to leave Cotton Tree on Saturday, so it wasn't ideal leaving a day early but worth it to get out of the rain.

Day 11 Yeppoon
We got up early and packed the last of our stuff and packed down the tent before it really started raining. Grandma made us breakfast and we hit the road. We stopped just south of Maryborough for a quick stretch and morning tea before getting back in the car and driving to Collosuem Creek. There was a sign on the side of the road and I was hungry so we pulled in there. It was really quiet (probably because it was 2pm) and we quickly ate before getting back on the road. We made it to Yeppoon just before the sunset. Little miss didn't think much of Yeppoon when we first arrived, I'm not quite sure what she was expecting. I set up in the dark while little miss made a cubby in the car. We had dinner in the camp kitchen before heading to bed early. After such a long day driving I was exhausted.
Day 12 Yeppoon
We came this far up to escape the rain. We didn't completely escape it. It was raining lightly for most of the day. We headed to the SINGING SHIP. I think the lookout would've been nice if it wasn't such a rainy day. We did a bit of shopping before heading to SHELL WORLD. We even got a little ICE CREAM and checked out a bit of what Yeppoon has to offer.
Day 13 Yeppoon
It looked like the rain was easing so we headed out to Rockhampton to explore and check out the big bulls. We didn't get any photos (which was a shame) but we had fun looking for them. We also headed to ROCKHAMPTON ZOO, and amazing free zoo to visit. We thought about heading to look at Rosslyn Bay but while it was dry in Rockhampton the drive back to Yeppoon was very wet so we decided to head back past WRECK POINT LOOKOUT before heading back to the caravan park for an early night.

Day 14 Mackay
The drive to Mackay wasn't particularly nice. It was long, with lots of road works and there weren't many towns. Not my favourite stretch. We stopped at a servo just south of Marlborough before doing the long stretch. When we got to Sarina (only 30km south of Mackay) we stopped for a quick photo at the BIG CANETOAD, before jumping back in the car to head to Mackay. We checked into our accommodation before heading out for a play at the playground as promised for such a good passenger. We also went out for ICE CREAM which was delicious. Headed back for a bit of binge watching of TV which little miss loved. Unfortunately for me I found an infestation of ants just as I was about to settle down for bed. That lead to a search of the entire room and a phone call to request a new room (one that didn't have ants). Some terrible customer service later, I pulled the bed out from the wall to reduce the number of ants crawling on the bed and squashed as many as I could see. I did miss a few and was woken over night being bitten. I can tell you we left pretty early because it was so disgusting.
