Outback Adventure Week 3

Day 15 Bowen

To say I was glad to get out of that motel was an understatement. We got up and left early. I wanted to get on the road. It was a little over cast and started spitting when we got to Proserpine, so we decided to stop past the PROSERPINE HISTORICAL MUSEUM. We then went to the WOSRT CARAVAN PARK EVER. By the time we made it to Bowen Holiday Park, I was exhausted and extremely upset.

Day 16 Bowen

After the exciting day before we had a really laid back relaxing day. We did some washing, played on the jumping pillow, did some chalk drawing and had a picnic dinner. Little miss even shared a lollipop with me. I also had a couple that had seen me the day before come and have a chat. By the end of the day I definitely felt better about everything.

Day 17 Bowen

This is our last day in Bowen and we decided to get out and explore while we had the chance. We also made the decision to cancel our trip and head home. With the uncertainty of Covid and the stress of the last couple of days I was feeling quite overwhelmed with the prospect of travelling any more. We went and visited the BIG MANGO and ate some mango sorbet. Then we went to the BOWEN HISTORICAL MUSEUM. We also went for a walk and saw some of the murals around town.

Day 18 Sarina

We packed up and said goodbye before heading south to Sarina. The worst part of it all was it felt like we were going the wrong way. Little miss said we were going the wrong way, she wants to go to Cairns but she's not sure about Townsville (because of the lockdown). We stopped for morning tea at Whitsunday Gold Coffee, it was the most amazing cafe. The animals were incredible. We loved the piglets the best. The names for the animals were right up my alley (Crispy and Crackle). With expected rain we decided to treat ourselves to a lovely B&B. I also wasn't overly impressed with Mackay so wanted some where different. Absolutely love this B&B, not only is it spotless, it smells fantastic and is completely decorated. We had a quiet day and both had a bath in the claw foot bath before bed.

Day 19 Sarina

With a whole day to explore Sarina, we did a tour at the SARINA SUGAR SHED. The best part was the taste testing. We then wandered through the village looking at the different shops. We also did as we always do, test out the ICE CREAM. Little miss fell out of bed twice, once in her sleep and once awake. I had to put pillows up again to stop her from rolling off the edge over night.

Day 20 Gracemere

We left Sarina early, it was easier not having to pack up the tent. The drive between Sarina and Marlborough is not the greatest, so it was a relief to get it done early. We stopped past and grabbed a fan from jaycar (it has been stuffy in the car over the past few nights).  Little miss decided that she had had enough driving for the day so after making a few calls we found a caravan park that would take us for the night. The lady at the desk was really nice and even took little miss on a ride on the golf buggy to show us our site. We watched a little tv in the most awesome camp kitchens we've ever seen.

Day 21 Emerald

We had a very slow start to the day. My phone had been glitching and it did it again in the morning. I'd been 'fixing' it by restarting it. It was glitching again and I did my usual restart, the only difference being that it didn't turn back on this time. I was relieved that it happened in Rockhampton, and not on the road in the middle of no where. After visiting the information centre and being pointed in the right direction (it's amazing how much we rely on Google) and the hope of getting my phone fixed and heading out to Emerald. It took about 4 hours and a trip to the library to use the free WIFI to message Jamie and I ended up with a new phone. We had a quick bite to eat before heading out to Emerald. Half way there we stopped for a quick snack (Little miss likes to graze) before continuing on. I was half tempted to turn around and head back (anxiety is not a good thing on high stress days) but I was glad when we finally arrived.
