Day 29 Townsville
After our busy week through the outback we started the day off with a little chalk drawing, scooter riding and water painting. We went into the information centre (always a wealth of information about where to visit in the area) and booked some activities. They also told us about the WATER PARK on the strand and we went and checked it out. Disappointingly it was closed being a Tuesday, so we headed back to the caravan park for a dip in the pool. Being unheated it was a brief dip.
Day 30 Townsville
Its always the way, little miss sleeps in on the days we need to get up early. Today we headed over to MAGNECTIC ISLAND for the day. I'm glad I booked a tour because it meant that I could sit back and relax while taking in this amazing island. After a busy day we headed back on the ferry. With a little time left in the afternoon we drive past the WATER PARK on the strand and it was open. Little miss had an absolute ball playing in the water until we needed to head back to the caravan park for the evening.
Day 31 Townsville
Our last day in Townsville and sure enough the chance of possible showers turned into actual showers. We decided to head to the RIVERWAYS after the rain settled down. It was too cold to swim but there were so many amazing places to explore and there were turtles swimming in the river. Little miss even got to pat a turtle that had wandered towards the road. We were going to go and visit Castle Hill, but apparently that's boring. So we went to the WATER PARK on the strand again instead. We topped the evening off with another INCIDENT and a discussion on safety in the caravan park.

Day 32 Airlie Beach
We had originally planned to go past Ayr but Covid hit Townsville and that changed our plans. So instead we stopped on our way past. We stopped at AYR NATURE DISPLAY and it was so incredible. Loved every minute of being there. We also stopped at a BIG WATERMELON and BIG PUMPKIN that we saw on the side of the road. You can never have too many photos with big things. I must be queen of the green ants because again we had more on our site. Luckily I had some fabric aeroguard so I sprayed everything they came into contact with to be safe. A quick trip to reception and we moved sites (and they sprayed the tree). After setting up we went for a quick dip in the pool (it was cool) and explored the different playgrounds. The best part about having a food truck on site was not having to make dinner (I'm all for having the night off). They had entertainment by the campfire and little miss made friends with some people. She danced with them and then roasted marshmallows over the campfire.
Day 33 Airlie Beach
After a bit of a slow start to the morning we headed off to the MARKETS. It was pretty busy and we decided to explore some of the shops in town. Little miss wanted to play on the playground near the markets but it was so busy being the weekend so we decided to wait until it wasn't so busy. We headed back to the caravan park and Little miss made friends with the other kids and played for ages on the ninja course and jumping pillow. Later that night they had a movie night by the campfire with campfire treats. We lasted about 5 minutes of Aquaman (lots of questions being ask) before we decided it was better to head back to watch Winnie the Pooh in the car.
Day 34 Airlie Beach
We had an early start (when will I ever learn) and headed into town to catch the bus out for the GLASS BOTTOM BOAT. We went up to SHUTE HARBOUR to have a look before heading back to the boat. Back to the caravan park for a quiet afternoon. Little miss loved that the ice cream truck came around. More playing on the ninja course and jumping pillow and making friends.
Day 35 Airlie Beach
Our last day in Airlie beach and we went for a little bit of a drive before playing at the fabulous playground we'd seen earlier in the week. We headed back to the caravan park for a quiet afternoon of packing and sorting everything out ready to leave tomorrow.
