Day 43 The Gemfields
We had a cold start to the day, this was the coldest we've been while away. Once the sun came up we warmed up nicely. We decided on a nice quiet day in the park and with onsite fossicking, we tried our luck. Little miss helped a bit before being entertained with snacks and a DVD player. Little miss loves extra Grandmas and they were in great supply, one gave us a glass locket to put some of our sapphire chips in for little miss.
Day 44 The Gemfields
One of the Grandma's told us about ARMFEST, and we headed there to do some fossicking. 2 buckets of wash later and we have sapphires we can send off to be cut and polished. Surprisingly Little miss was all about helping fossick for sapphires with her tweezers at the ready. Back at the caravan and we had a bit of hotitis (pink cheeks) and we cured it with ice cream and a slushie.
Day 45 The Gemfields
We woke to a random herd of cows wandering the streets of sapphire. We headed to Rubyvale to the MINERS HERTIAGE MINE TOUR and went out of my comfort zone again to go down into the mine. After a little morning tea and we did a little fossicking in the park. Later that afternoon back at the caravan park and the cows were back.
Day 46 The Gemfields
The birds were back in the morning, you really have to watch your toast if you sit outside. While chatting away to one of the other campers I hear little miss calling out. Someone was trying to sneak ice cream out of the freezer and got her finger stuck. Nothing a Peppa Pig bandaid won't fix. She ended up fine, and I don't think she'll try that again. We headed off to the MINERS COTTAGE to do a bit of fossicking (it was good trying out different parks). Before heading to the STRUDEL HUT for lunch. We visited the SAPPHIRE SHOWCASE and looked at the stunning gems and rocks they had on display. The amazingly talented and funny Willow performed that evening at the caravan park and little miss again danced with lots of different people
Day 47 The Gemfields
Back to the MINERS COTTAGE for a couple more buckets of wash. We managed to have lots of gems, I loved the variety of colours between the parks. A quiet afternoon drawing at the caravan park.
Day 48 The Gemfields
Our last day in the Gemfields and we headed off to the MARKETS. Little miss got more rocks and some rock books. Our favourite park to fossick in was ARMFEST so we headed back for our final opportunity to fossick. With our time in the Gemfields finishing up and me being completely hooked on fossicking I did one last bucket in the park while little miss played. We got dinner from the takeaway shop at the caravan park, which was a great way to finish up our time.
