To See NSW - Scotts Head Bowlo

Little miss has been itching to have a go and play lawn bowls ever since Sawtell.  We often had to stop and watch all the players playing and of course the question of when she could have a turn always came up.  Well to celebrate our 100th day travelling we decided to play. Little miss and I went for a scooter ride (The bowlo was right next to the caravan park and we could watch the lawn bowls from our camper trailer) to find the entrance and find out when they were open. They weren't open until the afternoon, a long time to wait for a kid.

When it was finally time to go back she led the way and was so excited.  We got one adult set and one child set ($8 all up) and went out to pick a spot. We chose the end that didn't have many people just in case we had a stray bowl, even though it was the smoking end. Jamie set to work explaining to little miss how to play and how to throw the balls. After about 5 minutes of her not getting it, it was up to me. I find it's easier to show her how to do things and figure out what needs explaining as we go.

So we took turns rolling the bowls and when we had none left I took her up to them and asked which was closet. It was my bowl, the big one. I told her I was the winner. When she realised she didn't win was disappointed. We rolled the bowls back to play again. This time little miss knew what to expect and when it came time to check who the winner was she kicked my bowl away and put hers right next to the jack. She was giggling away like mad. She did win without cheating a few times. We did also have some special drinks (red fire engine and a lemon lime and bitters) to celebrate.

I'm not sure if it was exactly what she thought it would be but we had fun anyway. We did also have a prize for the person who had the most fun to help encourage Little miss when she thought it was a bit tricky.
