This is our second week in Corindi beach (if you missed our Week 13 Recap) we had some warm weather and pulled the collapsible bath out for a bit of water play (Little miss loves water play). She was sweet pouring some water over my feet on the concrete to keep me cool. It made the concrete lovely and cool. I love the bird life around Corindi Beach, its amazing how many different birds we've seen. I loved the Brahminey Kite Sea eagles. We went bird spotting, Little miss even took her Ipad to take some photos herself (she's getting a kids camera for Christmas which I think will be well received).
There were also some green tree frogs who came out every night with the rain, they were really sweet to go searching for each night. We did have some days that the caravan park looks really hazy, there was so much sea spray and you could really smell the saltiness in the air.
We loved exploring CORINDI BEACH and collecting shells and rocks (most being left behind) and Little miss spent hours playing with shells and rocks (who needs lots of toys). The weather this week was pretty miserable. We had heaps of severe storm warnings with the threat of damaging winds, heavy rainfall and giant hailstones. Lucky for us none of these eventuated. It did make for a bit of a miserable time in the camper trailer (and a few nights sleeping in the car). Most of the storms went around us, but a few went straight over the top of us and washed out to sea. We did get to see whales playing off the beach after one of the storms which was lovely to watch.
If there was a storm or bad weather forecast during the day we would take the opportunity to head into town. Before one visit into town I was looking at the weather radar before we left, it looked like the storm was going to go around us. Jamie said he wouldn't mind if we put the annex windows down. I thought it looked like the storm was going to go around us again so left them up. We came back to a slightly soggy annex, and the bath that was near one of the windows with about 3cm of water in the bottom, oops. The next trip in I shut all the windows only to have it miss us altogether. Can't beat bad luck. We did have the lights at the shops flicker in the middle of a thunderstorm, I have to say I was much happier being there than at the camper trailer.
Woolgoolga was only about 10 minutes away, with bigger supermarket options, we did do a little shopping there rather than heading into Coffs Harbour (about 30 minutes away). The perfect chance to taste test some ice cream, and wet and windy days can still be ice cream days.
With the bad weather and the wind, it brought blue bottles to the beach. We've been talking about different animals with Little miss (she loves learning about animals) and jellyfish are a favourite. Unfortunately with how curious she is we had a few days of not going to the beach to eliminate the risk of her want to touch the blue bottles. It didn't take long and they were gone and we were back on the beach.
The wet weather really made it much cooler and there were a few days that we needed to wear jackets and pants again (something we haven't had to do for a while). With wet weather it makes it difficult to entertain little miss. We didn't put our PVC floor down this time, it's good to try different things and we were on a big cement slab (very very nice). Little miss liked having the cement slab open, she had chalk and spent many hours drawing in the annex. Although we ended up with chalk dust on all our clothes it definitely entertained her during the times it wasn't so nice to go out.
We visited the SOLITARY ISLANDS AQUARIUM over the weekend. They only run on the weekends and you need to book a session. We had a ball and would highly recommend visiting.
We ended the week with an EARLY BIRTHDAY PARTY IN THE PARTY for Little miss. She had picked out all the decorations, mermaid (lady fish) themed. She had an absolute ball and her cake was delicious. Pity about the bird, I'm starting to think we're a little jinxed in that department.
